The Most Iconic Brand Logos Of All Times

A logo has the power to either make or break a brand. If it does not have that extraordinary spark it is going to lose its effect. Throughout the top logo design companies history, various logos serve as the symbol of values, loyalty, and togetherness.

So, we are here to present before you the list of some of the iconic logos of all times:

What made them evergreen, let's find out:

1. Nike:

Initially, the name of this most popular sports brand was Blue Ribbon Sports, an import company, Nike did not come into existence until 1971. In this year the company expanded into the production of their own sports footwear. You all the famed swoosh as the symbol of the company. It was selected half-heartedly by co-founder Philip Knight but Carolyn Davidson, who designed this logo, was inspired by Nike, the namesake Greek goddess of victory, to create the Swoosh which implied movement and speed. The logo was again updated in 1978, for a bolder, all-caps font and a slight re-positioning of the Swoosh. The Swoosh went on to become one of the most iconic images in the world. Finally in 1995 the company chose to remove the brand name from the original logo and decided to keep the swoosh as the only symbol for NIKE.

2. Coca-Cola:

The globally famous Coca-Cola logo has been a prominent example of superb branding done by any of the top logo design companies since it came into existence in 1886. It was created by Frank Mason Robinson, John Pemberton's bookkeeper, in the Spencerian script typeface. In 1890, the company re-designed the logo to be more complex, featuring the swirls. This logo has stuck to the minds of people since then and we still see Frank Mason Robinson's design on every Coca-Cola product for what has become one of the world's most recognizable brands.

3.Ford:

Ford Motor company was Henry Ford's third automobile company. He founded this company after the failure of two of his firms. The original or the initial logo for the Ford Motor Co. was an embellished circle with the place and name of the company. It was then designed to the famous blue oval in 1927 with the release of the Model A.

4.Apple:

The Apple logo design was initiated by the co-founder, Ronald Wayne, and was inspired by Isaac Newton's discovery of gravity. Steve Jobs instructed that it should not be too complex with something not too cute. In 1977 Rob Janoff created a logo featuring a rainbow-striped apple illustration and apple written along with it. The 1977 logo also featured the "bite" taken out of the apple. In 1984, with the release of the Apple Macintosh, the company decided to simplify the logo and depict only the apple with a bite, without the accompanying word. Since 1984, the company has made little changes in the design of the Apple, modifying colors and shading, but it has never steered away from the present symbol of the company.

5.Pepsi:

Initially, Pepsi’s logo was a rough scribbling done by Caleb Bradham, the founder of the company. This design was there till 1962 when the word "cola" was also added with “Pepsi”. Then in 1962 it just became Pepsi. The logo was a bolded "Pepsi" with a red, white, and blue bottle cap in the background. It was updated 5 times from 1971 to 2005, each time becoming more sleek and defined.

In the end…

There are many other brands which have nailed their presence since years and are still prominent enough. These were some of them which we have listed in front of you. One common thing between all these logos is that they all have only changed certain colors and angles keeping the same basic logo intact. This is the secret behind maintaining the importance of your brand.

The Power Of A Good Logo

Recent researchers say that effective logo design for company or brands can have a significant effect on customer commitment to a brand and even on company performance. Take the example of great brands like McDonald’s, Apple, Aflac, Michelin, their symbols show their own significance. Whether it's the golden arches of McDonald's, bitten the apple, Aflac duck, Michelin man or Starbucks mermaid people often associate themselves with the brand logo.

Differentiating your brand from others is quite a difficult task. Many top researchers suggest that that brand logos offer a viable, though often neglected, means to help brand managers achieve their tasks. Many marketers and experts say that the brand logo can bring together the marketing efforts of the brand.

They are the point of connection:

Let’s go back and have a look at the history of these catchy designs and graphical pictures. In ancient times the logos were in the form of seals where only the mightiest one was allowed to use to represent himself and his entire empire. See the magic of pictures how they have helped in identification since the time immemorial. They are timeless.

In history, they were a part of the tradition, culture, and religious rituals and today corporate logos are a point of connection between the companies and customers. You can see the logo of Nike, how simple yet descriptive it is. Just a sign and the tagline ‘Just Do It’ says it all. You do not need any further explanation or description. It visually renders activity, flow, and energy. Then you see the Apple Inc.’s logo, the bitten apple which represents their unique style of thinking and doing things in their own way.

However, there are brands which fail in delivering the right logo design for company, the right story, concept and opportunity of their organization. On the other hand, there are logos which are outstanding and appalling. But why this difference occurs? What are the brands missing?

Visual vs. Text logos:

You know there are companies which make their name as their logo without any symbolic representation. While some of them have text along with a graphical representation. Companies like IBM have created their bond with their customers through these letters only but brands like NIKE came up with a tagline and a symbol too. So, what do you think is better? Researchers say that companies which have a representation symbol are able to create a much better emotional connection with their customers. This is not shocking because we all know pictures create deeper impact than words.

Brand extensions can strengthen the logo:

Keeping the same symbol for years represents the consistency of the brand. Although if companies think of extending their products list and services under that same logo will help the logo to strengthen. If your brand is prominent enough and you decide to expand it more this will help you to make the logo more valuable and descriptive. For example the Arm and Hammer morning shower gel in addition to baking soda used in the kitchen. Brand extensions with the same logo strengthen customer relationships and make it more intact.

The power of brand logos:

In this flow of importance of logos and their designing people have started thinking that all they need is just a catchy piece of graphics to sell their brand. This is not completely true there are businesses which do not have that special effect or uniqueness but they are still on the top of the list of their customers. Everything cannot be achieved just with the help of logo, you need some advertising and promotion. Even if the logo is not attractive and the advertisement is done in the most unique way it can create its own charm and importance.

In the end…

Experts encourage managers and marketers to rethink their use of brand logos to help them strengthen customers’ commitment to a brand. Brand extension is the most suitable way to let the logo deliver its best and thus trade upon new business opportunities in the future.

4 big challenges Digital marketers faced in 2016

For digital marketers, 2016 was the year of change and innovation. And while some of the most eminent challenges were familiar, there were brand new obstacles that seemed to emerge daily. So, what were the most critical hurdles? As marketers close out the year and consider strategies for the new year, here’s a look back at five of the biggest hurdles faced over the last year as presented by professional of digital marketing company India.

#1. Ad fraud is still a big problem
The US has one of the worst ad fraud rates in the world. The rates will cost the industry more than $7 billion in advertising spend this year, once again up from the previous year. Countries like Australia, France, Germany and the UK comparatively have better rates.
But as the problem has grown, so has awareness among advertisers. This has led to supply-side changes, with publishers removing high-risk and potentially fraudulent inventory.  More industry-wide standards and incentives are in place this year than there were two years ago.
As fraud persists, however, the marketers might look at other channels that have more implicit engagement and audience buy-in such as mobile apps and email as a means for launching launch campaigns.

#2. Marketers are stuck on data collection
Today, more than 90% of marketers gather information on customers or prospects. Data-driven marketing has become the industry standard. But still stuck in idle, focusing on data collection. Most marketers are learning just to crawl when it comes to making data actionable at scale, and 2016 didn’t see much progress in that direction.
When it comes to data implementation, a significant number of marketers still lack the internal experience, either at the operational or functional level to be successful. According to a report, more than 40% of marketers can’t draw insights from harvested data.
This will hopefully change as marketing tools provide more self-service, automating data analysis and implementation. And others will provide machine-learning capabilities to get immediate applications of customer data.

#3. Marketing software is too hard to use
Technology’s ease of use has become a much bigger focus for the marketing industry in the year 2016. This is because of the complexity in the customer’s journey. As the customer journey has grown more complicated, with more data and touchpoints, software supporting marketers need to be simplified. Advertisers, agencies, and marketers want more platform simplicity from vendors.

#4. Underused locations
Location-based data is still the key to understanding customer context, as mobile becomes the dominant aspect. From traditional channels like email to more cutting-edge platforms like VR AR, and 360-degree video, location data powers insights on how to best engage customers in a more personalized way through mobile. Still, marketers seem slow to incorporate location into their campaigns. But as the year passed, most advertisers finally have realized just how critical geospatial data, in a post-mobile environment, will be for the future.
