Who has ever thought that the those small logos printed on team’s tshirts, stadium and merchandise can even create any difference?
Well most of us don’t!

The effect of a logo is equal to introduction of a new coach, practice facility or a free agent can create. A logo update or a redesign offers the same of amount of culture shift. An update in the sports logo of a team holds major influence in imbibing a breath of fresh air in the team and the organizers.

  • The City Logo(1969-1971)
The team moved around various logos which has caricature of North Americans but the San Francisco Warrior finally adapted a new logo in 1969.

In this era, the team was facing identity crisis as they moved back and forth across bay, playing from san francisco to oakland full time. The jersey completed with trolley car imagery became truly iconic for the team and became the favourite for all the fans.

This logo is break to a monotony by introducing bright gold to the mix which was done for the first time in the team history. The change in simple Bay area iconography and the whimsical theme of the script letter used in the logo design made the logo connect with the local culture of the team. Using the text “ The City” in the logo denoted the connection from San Francisco market.
  • The California Logo(1971-1997)
Designers from logo design company suggested that longest used for all warrior logo as this western themed “california” variation which moved ahead with image of Bay Bridge.

The logo used helped in centralizing the team as “ the team of california” by changing the name of the team to Golden State Warrior. While Dubs wasn’t the best team of the state, the update made in the logo design casted a positive effect on the team as compared to the previous logo design. The warrior later went ahead and won a championship in 1975.
  • Failed Modernity logo (1997-2010)
With one of those sad worst logo design, the warrior team saw new low. Their poor scouting in the front office and inconsistency in coaching philosophy made the team gets defeated. The logo itself seemed sacrilegious which nearly abandoned every interesting aspect of logo that came before. The biggest drawback that the logo held was the colour, style and theme mismatch. This way the logo didn’t inspired the team at all.

  • The Gold Standard Logo(2010- present)
The 2010 warrior logo gives a refreshing look to the rich roots of the franchise and their oakland   home with the hope for the future. The execution of design within the logo neatly done. It is modernly designed without making it over the top. It is sleek, modern, bright, clean and ofcourse easily recognizable.After the logo was redesigned, team won many titles and accolades which are real boost to manage the branding of the team.

Any logo has significance in the life of a company. When it comes sports logo, the significance is no less in fact even more! In a sports world where the competition is really tough, a through change of brand identity can give the team that needed boost and inspiration for coming out with winning spirit.
